Dominique Hinson

Professor Dominique Hinson joined the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law faculty as the Associate Director of Trial Advocacy and an Associate Professor of Law, Legal Practice in July 2024. Professor Hinson teaches courses in McGeorge’s award-winning Trial Advocacy program and supervises top-ranked competition teams.

Before joining the McGeorge faculty, Professor Hinson was the Director of Appellate Advocacy and an adjunct professor at South Texas College of Law Houston. During her time at South Texas, Professor Hinson taught courses in persuasive advocacy, appellate advocacy, and trial advocacy courses, and dedicated ten years as an advocacy coach.

Professor Hinson is passionate about fostering advocacy skills in both law students and practicing attorneys. She contributes as a faculty member for the National Institute of Trial Advocacy (NITA), where she teaches trial and depositions skills training programs across the country.  

Renowned in the field of advocacy education, Professor Hinson has presented at the Educating Advocates: Teaching Advocacy Skills conference (EATS) at Stetson University College of Law and the Training Advocates Conference. In 2023 – 2024, Professor Hinson served as an elected member of the National Association of Legal Advocacy Educators as the Vice President of Moot Court and as Region 10 Representative in 2022 – 2023.

Before her academic career, Professor Hinson focused on commercial litigation and employment law. She is admitted to practice in Texas and before the federal courts in the Southern, Northern, and Eastern Districts of Texas. Professor Hinson is committed to helping businesses and creators solve problems and achieve their goals within their communities.

Professor Hinson earned her JD from South Texas College of Law Houston, where she was co-chair of the Board of Advocates, a Dean’s Outstanding Advocate, and was inducted into the Order of the Barristers. She holds a BA in Political Science from Texas A&M University.
