Don L. Doernberg graduated from Columbia Law School in 1969. Before entering academia, Doernberg was in private practice for five years and thereafter at Legal Aid in New York City as a member of and later director of Special Litigation. He joined the faculty of Pace Law School (now the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University) in January 1979 and taught there for 37.5 years before moving to California in 2016. He has taught at McGeorge School of Law for three semesters, generally filling in “holes” when the school needs additional coverage in Civil Procedure or Criminal Procedure: Investigation. In spring 2022, he will be teaching Federal Courts, focusing on the role the federal courts play in how the United States is structured.

He has also taught Criminal Law, Conflict of Laws, and Torts and has published books and articles regularly, including two at McGeorge in the past three years.
