In order to apply for financial aid, you must complete the following forms:
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
This U.S. Department of Education form is designed to determine your eligibility for federal and state financial aid and should be completed as soon as possible after October 1 of each year.
- FSA ID — Create an FSA ID (if you don't already have one)
- FAFSA — to begin completing the FAFSA
- University of the Pacific Federal School Code: 001329
- Priority Deadline: June 1
There are two funding options for students applying for financial aid:
Option 1: Standard Funding (all students) Standard funding allows students to borrow up to the cost of attendance using the Unsubsidized Stafford and Graduate Plus federal student loans. This option requires the student's information only. No parental income information is needed.
Option 2: Extended Funding (DDS students only) Extended funding allows the student to borrow up to the cost of attendance from all sources, including Institutional and Health Profession Student Loans (HPSL). This option requires all students to include parental financial information.
(Note: Parental information determines eligibility for both Institutional and HPSL loans. These loans are limited and awarded based on need on a first come, first serve basis until funds are exhausted. Loan amounts vary according to eligibility and available funds.) Once FAFSA is received, you will notified to upload your parent's tax information via our secure portal CampusLogic.
2022 federal income tax return information is needed to complete the FAFSA. All applicants must provide consent and approval to have their federal tax information transferred directly into your 2024-25 FAFSA form.
Once you submit the FAFSA, the federal processor will send you an acknowledgment when you can access the FAFSA Submission Summary. The FAFSA Submission Summary will provide you with your official SAI (Student Aid Index). The federal processor will also electronically transmit the analysis of the data you submitted to each institution you specified on the FAFSA.
It is your responsibility to ensure that you have submitted all forms necessary to complete your financial aid application. The Financial Aid Office will notify you of any forms needed to complete your application. Be sure to submit all requested information as soon as possible. If you are unsure if all required forms are on file, contact the Financial Aid Office at 415.749.3341. Once you have completed and submitted all required forms, your application will be reviewed and packaged. Please refer to the FA Timeline for additional information.
To determine your financial need, the Financial Aid Office calculates the estimated cost of attendance, including tuition and fees, books and supplies, room and board, personal expenses, transportation, and miscellaneous expenses.
Once your eligibility and awards have been determined you will receive an email with a link to University of the Pacific's Inside Pacific portal website to view and accept your awards. You will be awarded your full cost of attendance including tuition, fees, books and supplies, and living allowance. You may select all of your awards or reduce your awards based on your needs. It is our policy to first award scholarships and grants, followed by eligible loans.
The dental school's financial aid office is responsible for disbursing your financial aid. Federal Direct Stafford, Federal Direct Grad PLUS, and HPSL disbursements are applied electronically to your student account. Your financial aid is applied directly to the payment of institutional charges (i.e. tuition, fees, books and supplies, and housing charges). Any credit balance on your account will be refunded to you by the Student Accounts department.
