About the Program
Pacific’s Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) educational program offers a streamlined path for aspiring Audiologists who are eager to enter the workforce. We welcome applicants with a passion for hearing and a Bachelor’s degree in any major. From their very first day, our students are immersed in a student-centered learning experience and hands-on clinical education. Classes are conducted on the ultra-modern San Francisco campus surrounded by the city’s SoMa district.
Growing Demand
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts an 11% growth in Audiologist employment from 2022 to 2032, much faster than the average across all occupations. This increase can be attributed to the prevalence of hearing loss in an aging population and advancements in hearing aid technology, amplifying the demand for audiology services. Additionally, the emphasis on early detection and treatment of hearing disorders in infants and young children will further boost demand.

The Department of Audiology at the University of the Pacific's School of Health Sciences invites you to a public meeting with the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). The CAA is seeking public comment as part of its re-accreditation of the doctoral program in audiology.

San Francisco Campus Information
The San Francisco campus is located at 155 Fifth Street in San Francisco's vibrant South of Market neighborhood. The building is home to both the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry and the University of the Pacific Center. The Dugoni School moved into this newly completed building in 2014 and the Pacific Center opened in August 2015 to offer professional programs including a doctoral program in Audiology and masters programs in Data Science and Music Therapy.

Graduates of the Doctor of Audiology program will demonstrate:
Comprehensive knowledge of audiology theories, principles, and practices. Benchmarks are high academic performance and successful completion of coursework that aligns with accreditation standards.
Clinical competence, including the ability to assess, diagnose, and treat individuals with hearing and balance disorders. Graduates meet or exceed all clinical education accreditation standards.
Professionalism and ethical behavior in audiological practice, adhering to the highest ethical standards in patient care and research.
Engagement in research activities, such as designing experiments, conducting studies, and presenting findings, contributing to the advancement and understanding of evidence-based audiological knowledge.
