Joshua Smotherman
In addition to serving as a faculty member at University of the Pacific’s Conservatory of Music, Joshua Smotherman is currently the Chief Operating Officer at Unlimited Sounds, a California-based music publishing administration company.
At Unlimited Sounds, he launched the company’s web presence and actively consults their clients on website management, marketing strategies and music industry knowledge that empowers them to manage their own careers.
Smotherman holds degrees in music business and anthropology from Middle Tennessee State University. He has broad experience working for independent publishers and small businesses on Music Row in Nashville. He has a thorough understanding of the strategies, tools and resources available to independent creators in the rapidly developing new media and digital marketing spaces.
Smotherman writes about independent music and interviews artists for IndieMusicDiscovery.com. His writing has landed him mentions and quotations in Cyber PR, LA Weekly and James Moore’s book “Your Band Is A Virus: Expanded Edition.” He has authored two books, “Getting Your Music Heard Online” (co-authored with C. Bret Campbell) and “ReverbNation: The Mini-Guide.”
Smotherman is the father of three teenagers and a dedicated and supportive husband to his wife Ruth.
