Academic Advising and Career Services Center now open

Welcome to a new academic year! Pacific has created a new Academic Advising and Career Services Center (AACSC). We encourage you to meet with the center's advisors regularly to support your success throughout your time at Pacific.* 

To meet with academic or career advisors, you can make an appointment or drop in to the AACSC on the second floor of the McCaffrey Center. Here are ways they can support you:

• Academic advisors (a new role) complement the work of faculty advisors. They can assist you with academic-success strategies; exploring, declaring or changing your major or minor; tracking your degree-completion progress in DegreeWorks; navigating policies and procedures; and connecting you to other campus resources, including care managers. Care managers support you through personal challenges that may be interfering with your academic success.
• Career advisors can assist you with finding internships and other hands-on learning opportunities, teach you job-search strategies (writing resumes and cover letters, interviewing, etc.), provide Tiger Jobs training, and assist you with planning for graduate school, including writing personal statements and test-taking. They can connect you with Pacific's alumni network as well.

You should also continue meeting with your faculty advisor to receive ongoing mentorship. Your faculty advisor can share options for connecting your academic major to potential careers, exploring internships and creating an educational plan. Only faculty advisors can release registration holds. (Pre-Pharmacy Advantage Program students' primary advising and career guidance will continue to be supported by the Office of Student Affairs in the Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.)

We invite you to attend the Academic Advising and Career Services Center's open house September 5, and every Thursday during September, from noon to 2 p.m.

*Note: Pre-Pharmacy Advantage Program students' primary advising and career guidance will continue to be supported by the Office of Student Affairs in the Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
