Dr. Heesoo Oh Named Chair of the Department of Orthodontics

University of the Pacific's Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry has named Dr. Heesoo Oh as the new chair of the school's department of orthodontics.
Dr. Oh brings extensive leadership, clinical expertise, interdisciplinary research, and other skills to her role in leading the program.
Dr. Oh earned her DDS degree, Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry and PhD in Oral Biology from Chonnam National University, School of Dentistry in Gwang-Ju, Korea. In 2001, she was awarded a certificate in Advanced Education in General Dentistry from the Dugoni School and also completed her MSD in Orthodontics from the Dugoni School in 2005.
Also in 2005, Dr. Oh joined the Dugoni School as a faculty member. She has served as Program Director of the Graduate Orthodontics Program since 2010 and Director of the Craniofacial Research Instrumentation Laboratory since 2017. Most recently, in partnership with Dr. Gabby Thodas, Dr. Oh served as Interim Co-Chair of the Department of Orthodontics since 2017.
"Dr. Oh is dedicated to working with orthodontic faculty and staff members to grow and strengthen both the educational and research goals of the department," said Dr. Cindy Lyon, Associate Dean for Oral Health Education at the Dugoni School. "She also is enthusiastic about building interdisciplinary collaborations to support predoctoral and resident learning opportunities while improving patient care outcomes."
One of the leading programs in the country, the Dugoni School's 27-month Graduate Orthodontic Program prepares residents to provide excellent treatment based on contemporary biologic orthodontic principles. Each year, the Dugoni School receives more than 200 applications for the coveted eight spots per class. More information about the program is available on the dental school's website.
