Dugoni School’s Denim Day Raises Money Against Breast Cancer

Back in 1998, what was then the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry held a special fundraiser. Participants could buy a special pin which would allow them to wear denim to work, and the money would go to a good cause: fighting breast cancer.
This year, 300 members of the Dugoni School family participated in Lee National Denim Day, raising $2,300.00. In addition to selling pins, Denim Day volunteers also sold baked goods and miscellaneous breast cancer-related items. Proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society.
For more than a decade, the Denim Day fundraiser has been coordinated by Ligia Bermudez and Magda Rinaldi, dental teaching assistants in the school's Pediatric Clinic.
Lee National Denim Day® is a fundraiser created by Lee® Jeans where participants donate $5 or more in exchange for wearing jeans to work. Since its inception in 1996, Lee National Denim Day participants have raised more than $93 million. For more information, visit Lee's website.
