Health Care Ranks High on U.S News & World Report 2019 Best Jobs List
January 9, 2019
U.S. News & World Report has released its annual list of best jobs for the coming year and the field of health care is widely represented.
On the overall 100 top jobs list, physician assistant was No. 3, dentist came in as No. 4, orthodontist was No. 5 and oral and maxillofacial surgeon tied with prosthodontist for ninth place. Dental hygienist was No. 30.
According to U.S. News, occupations in health care continue to show promise due to a combination of high salaries and low unemployment rates, taking 44 of the 100 Best Jobs and the majority of the Best-Paying Jobs.
The publication uses U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics' data to identify jobs with the greatest hiring demand, and then scores them based on a set of criteria that includes 10-year growth volume, 10-year growth percentage, median salary, employment rate, future job prospects, stress level and work-life balance. To read the full list, visit the U.S. News & World Report website.
