Health Programs Planning Update - Jan. 17, 2019

We are hosting a series of conversations/drop-in sessions to share the progress of the health school planning. These sessions are opportunities to learn about current planning, ask questions and share your thoughts. We invite you to attend any of the following sessions on all campuses:

The establishment of multiple new healthcare academic programs provides an opportunity for Pacific to develop a centralized administrative infrastructure (health school) that fosters innovative and collaborative relationships between new and existing programs, faculty members and students from a variety of healthcare professions. The 'Health School' is projected to have student enrollments of about 800 when programs are fully enrolled. Co-locating all of these professionally accredited programs in a dedicated school with shared governance and curricular structures provide benefits, including: 

• Bringing together existing fragmented educational and research programs
• Administratively housing healthcare programs and faculty with similar curricular and programmatic needs for appropriate shared governance.
• Intentionally modeling a team-based approach to healthcare
• Building intentional, interconnected curricula merging subjects of vital interest (e.g. cultural competence and evidence-based practice and research methods)
• Allowing for expansion of educational programs to address the national and statewide shortage of health professionals
• Increasing the potential for coordinated fundraising
