Leader in analyzing global emerging markets joins Pacific’s Board of Regents
Anne Milne, a University of the Pacific alumna and leader in analyzing international emerging markets, has been named to the university's Board of Regents.
Milne, who studied international studies at Pacific before earning a master's degree in international economics from Johns Hopkins University, will begin her three-year term on July 1.
"Anne's global experience in international economics will be extremely valuable to the Board of Regents," said Pacific President Pamela A. Eibeck. "She will provide a perspective that helps us continue to position Pacific for a strong future."
Milne was born in San Francisco to a family that has been in California for more than 150 years. She attended Pacific's Callison College, one of three cluster colleges started in the 1960s, where faculty and students collaborated in living-learning communities focused on international relations. Callison College students were required to spend their sophomore year abroad, and Milne studied in India.
"My time at Pacific helped me to define my life direction and my purpose when it comes to looking at things globally," Milne said. "By being on the Board of Regents, I hope that I can help future Pacific students to gain the same enriching experiences I did during my time here."
After graduating from Pacific in 1978, Milne moved to the East Coast for graduate studies and later worked in Switzerland and Argentina. She speaks fluent Spanish and French.
She is a managing director at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in New York where she leads the Global Emerging Markets Corporate Credit Research department with teams in New York, London, Hong Kong and Sao Paulo. Milne's team follows and analyzes 300 companies globally. She has held similar positions at JP Morgan and Deutsche Bank.
Milne also manages the Emerging Markets Corporate Credit strategy team, publishing weekly updates on emerging market trends. For the past decade, her team has been top-ranked by Institutional Investor, a leading international business-to-business publisher focusing primarily on international finance.
Pacific's Board of Regents is entrusted with final responsibility for the quality and integrity of the education provided by the university. It selects the university president, approves the mission of the university and ensures provision of adequate resources to support that mission. In addition, the board protects the university from external pressures antithetical to academic freedom and to university autonomy or integrity.
