Adam Tschuor did not become athletic director at University of the Pacific by happenstance.

Over the years, while considering possible job moves, he found himself checking out Pacific semi-frequently.

“I did research about possible destinations I thought would be a good fit for my family. I did not want them to be so large that we would feel uncomfortable, or so small that we would miss out on opportunities and resources,” he said. “University of the Pacific and Stockton had been on my radar. From a 30,000-foot level, I knew Pacific was a place to consider. And the timing is right.”

Tschuor was named athletic director in August. He joins the university after 11 years at University of Dayton, most of it as the No. 2 person in the Flyers’ athletic department. Tschuor (pronounced Shore) brings to Pacific a strong background in program building and fundraising.

“Adam has the precise combination of experiences, skills, values and attitude we were seeking,” President Christopher Callahan said. “He is a strategic innovator and big thinker who leads through equal parts relationship building and critical data analysis–the art and science of leadership. And he has an infectious enthusiasm, optimism and energy.”

Tschuor plans to prioritize academic and athletic achievement, with intensified attention paid to men’s basketball.

“I am deeply honored to be chosen to lead Pacific Athletics,” he said. “It is a special institution that has long been known to me as a place that has an exciting brand, core values and amazing potential.”
