New W-4 form beginning in January
The W-4 Employee’s Withholding Allowance Certificate form is changing beginning Jan. 1, 2020. The new W-4 form is very different from previous versions due to federal tax law changes that took place in 2018.
The new form:
- Eliminates withholding allowances.
- Allows you to choose “Head of Household” status.
- Considers if you have multiple jobs or if your spouse works.
- Considers if you have dependents.
- Considers if you have other income and your deductions.
The last day to make any W-4 changes using the 2019 form is Dec. 27, 2019.
If there has been a change in your marital status or number of withholding allowances, please submit an updated W-4 electronically through insidePacific under the Administrative tab/Administrative Services/Employee menu/ Tax Information/ W-4 Tax Exemptions and Allowances.
The Payroll Department will continue to share more information and helpful resources explaining the new 2020 W-4 form before the Dec. 27 deadline.
