Ken Albala, professor of history, published the book chapter "Curricular Reform in Food Programs" in "The Study of Food, Tourism, Hospitality and Events," edited by S. Beeton and A. Morrison, published by Springer (2019).
Jessica Grady, assistant professor of psychology, published the article, "Parents' reactions to toddlers' emotions: relations with toddler shyness and gender," in the journal, Early Child Development and Care.
Alan Lenzi, professor of religious studies, published the essay "'Counsels of Wisdom' as 'White-Collar' Wisdom in First Millennium Ancient Mesopotamia," in the book "Teaching Morality in Antiquity," edited by T. Oshima, published by Mohr Siebeck (2018).
Macelle Mahala, associate professor of English and Media X, had her essay, "Asserting Afro-German Subjectivity on the German Stage," published in the book, "Beyond Failure: New Essays on the Cultural History of Failure in Theatre and Performance," published by Routledge (2018).
Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry
Nejat Düzgüneş¸ professor of biomedical sciences, and Krystyna Konopka, professor of biomedical sciences, co-authored the paper "Photodynamic therapy of cancer with liposomal photosensitizers" published in Therapeutic Delivery 9(11). The paper is the result of an extensive and long-standing collaboration established by Dr. Konopka between Düzgüneş' laboratory and two groups at the Poznan University of Medical Sciences in Poland. The project has included several Pacific students whose work was published previously. Düzgüneş has submitted a grant application to National Institutes of Health to extend this work, including the use of an oral cancer animal model in collaboration with the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.
Andrew Young, assistant professor of diagnostic sciences, co-authored the article "Midface migraine with concomitant dental disease: A report of two cases," published in Quintessence International 49(10).

Franklin Gevurtz, distinguished professor of law, co-authored the book, "Mergers and Acquisitions Law," published as part of West's Hornbook series.
Presentations and artistic activity

Ken Albala, professor of history, presented a noodle making workshop and a historic cooking master class at the William Angliss Institute in Melbourne, Australia, where he holds the honorific position of eminent professor.
Teresa Bergman, professor and chair of communication, gave opening remarks for the private screening of the documentary "George Moscone: A Legacy of Change" to San Francisco Mayor London Breed, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, and San Francisco city staff on Tuesday, Nov. 27.
Jessica Grady, assistant professor of psychology, presented her research, "Promoting shy toddlers' physiological regulation during low- and moderately threatening social contexts," at the meeting of the International Society for Developmental Psychobiology.
Caroline Schroeder, professor of religious studies, presented two papers at the 2018 annual joint meeting for the Society of Biblical Literature and the American Academy of Religion in Denver: "Monastic Manipulations" in a session Violence and Representations of Violence, and "The Labor of Children in Early Egyptian Monasteries" in a session on Children in the Biblical World.
Corey Stocco, assistant professor of psychology, presented the invited address, "Lying is Behavior We Can Change," at Sacramento State University. The presentation was a part of the invited speaker series put on by the Student Association for Applied Behavior Analysis.

Stephen Cody, professor of law, presented "Victims, Patrons, and Justice After Atrocity" at the American Sociological Association annual meeting, held Aug. 11–14 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
