Pacific alumni directors ‘Zoom’ in for first virtual board meeting
The Pacific Alumni Association Board of Directors during their Zoom meeting.
The Pacific Alumni Association Board of Directors, communicating remotely from coast to coast, worked and had fun during their first virtual board meeting on April 25.
The meeting officially started when President Mary Pietanza ’86 used a makeshift gavel to call the session to order. Actually, she used a wooden spoon and pan. After business concluded, there was an actual gavel — produced by one of the board’s vice presidents, Judge Allan Hardcastle ’77, ’79 — to make it official.
Directors took part from near and far, including Josh Foster ’08 from New York and Shanti Halter ’01 from Arkansas.
Vice President LaNor Smith ’86 was serenaded with a Zoom version of “Happy Birthday.”
Three board members attended their last meeting. The terms of service ended for Waqar Rizvi ’02, Dick McClure ’78 and Max Vargas ’09, ’12.
