Pacific community invited to participate in Title IX training for hearing officers, decision-makers

Members of the University of the Pacific community are invited to a free, two-day training and certification course for Title IX hearing officers and decision-makers. The training will be held March 10–11 from 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. in Grace Covell Banquet Hall. Participation in the full two-day training is required for certification.

Valued at $1,500 per person, this course is free to Pacific faculty and staff, making this an incredible professional development opportunity. This is a one-time opportunity made possible through the generous support of the Dean of Students, General Counsel, Human Resources, Office of the President, and the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life. Breakfast, coffee and snacks will be provided. Lunch will be on your own.

WHAT IS THE TRAINING ALL ABOUT?

Title IX is an ever-changing landscape, and Pacific wants to be at the forefront of best practices. This training will be required for all Title IX hearing chairs and is strongly encouraged for anyone who is serving as a Title IX Hearing Panel board member.

This training will be conducted by ATIXA, the premier association for Title IX training. The course will be taught by faculty who are nationally recognized experts and field-leading practitioners using case studies, Q&A and illustrative stories. The primary focus is mastering investigation of campus sexual misconduct and sexual harassment. This training will address any potential changes that may take place due to recent California case law, federally proposed new rules and/or institutional policy.
