He told the Bee: "The economy was finally starting to rebound and come out of the recession. Many years of extremely low (housing) production caught up with the marketplace." He said rents should stabilize as more apartments are built.
"Children's Museum of Stockton marking 25 years with gala extravaganza Sept. 14," Manteca-Ripon Bulletin, Aug. 28, 2019: Regent Mary-Elizabeth Eberhardt and the Bank of Stockton were featured in this story on the upcoming gala celebrating 25 years of the Children's Museum in Stockton. "California's Push To Get Trump's Tax Returns Could Be A 'Slippery Slope'," USA News Hub, Aug. 29, 2019: McGeorge's Leslie Gielow Jacobs was quoted in this story about lawsuits filed by the GOP to block a state law requiring that presidential candidates provide income tax returns in order to appear on the state ballot. She said it was uncommon for the state Supreme Court to look at lawsuits so quickly. She also provided context about the Constitution and presidential requirements. The story also appeared on Huffpost.com and several Yahoo News outlets around the world, including Singapore, New Zealand and Australia.
"Our view: This Labor Day, a nod to high achievers and helping hands," The Record, Aug. 31, 2019: Former Regent José Hernández '85 was used as an example in this Labor Day editorial of a local high achiever, whose rise from the son of migrant workers to astronaut to motivational speaker, business leader and vineyard owner is an American success story. A little over a decade ago Hernández flew aboard the space shuttle, an experience that changed his perspective. "I became an instant tree-hugger," he told The Record. "38th annual Stockton Labor Day Pow Wow keeps ancient heritage alive," The Record, Sept. 2, 2019: The annual Stockton Labor Day Pow Wow hosted on the Wendell Phillips Center Lawn was featured in this front-page story with photos and an accompanying online photo gallery. The story opens: "At the heart of any powwow is the passing down of ancient traditions of the indigenous peoples of the West from one generation to the next, focusing on the children while continuing to teach and pay respect to the elders. The 38th annual Stockton Labor Day Pow Wow that concluded its three-day run Sunday on the tree-lined campus of University of the Pacific was no exception." "Chamber Music Society to highlight music composed by women," Davis Enterprise, Aug. 30, 2019: Conservatory faculty Patricia Shands and Mathew Krejci were mentioned in this story about upcoming performances hosted by the Chamber Music Society of Sacramento during the 2019-20.
