Thirty Pacific students from a wide variety of majors got a unique up-close-and-personal experience with two of entertainment's most influential names—Netflix and Roku on a "Tiger Trek" with the Career Resource Center on Feb. 15.

Students had the unique opportunity to walk through the decorated halls of Netflix and Roku, dine at the Netflix exclusive employee cafeteria, and engage in a Q&A session with Netflix and Roku recruiters and employees.  

"It was very motivating listening to the Pacific alumni and other employees' stories," said biochemistry major Jona Naqo '21. "Learning how to be successful in job interviews, be likable and create a strong reputation and relationship with colleagues, and how to get the best of university life was very helpful and had a big impact on me."  

Pacific alumnus and Stockton native Michael Orozco Jr. '15, who manages research and recruitment of tech talent at Netflix, collaborated with Pacific's Career Resource Center to organize visit to Netflix's Los Gatos headquarters. Recruiter Brian Davis organized the Roku visit, which featured a panel of speakers including Pacific alumnus Mark Quijano '06, the senior software development engineer in test at Roku.  

Some of the key takeaways they brought back include:

• Everyone has to start somewhere. Your first job might not be the most glamorous job, but find one that allows you to learn and go through different experiences. ·
• Recruiters look at LinkedIn pages. Update your LinkedIn page with keywords related to your industry.
• Take risks. This can include moving to a new city and leaving your comfort zone.  

"After this experience, I feel more confident and very motivated for future career opportunities," Naqo said. "I highly encourage other students to attend Tiger Trek, because it will change their perspective on workplace culture forever and motivate them more to achieve the best."
