Provost Faculty Fellow in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
The Provost is pleased to announce a Provost Faculty Fellow in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The PFAL program provides an opportunity for senior faculty members to expand their knowledge of priorities in the Academic Division and understand how universities adapt to confront the challenges facing higher education aligned with the current institutional priorities of diversity, equity and inclusion.
The Provost Faculty Fellow in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will:
• Develop leadership and administrative skills under the supervision of the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs
• Represent the faculty on the President's Diversity Leadership Team
• Participate in the University Diversity Committee
• Support the recruitment and retention of diverse faculty
• Work to support diversity, equity and inclusion events across all three campuses
• Advance ‘inclusive excellence' as part of the culture of Pacific
• Develop methods to assess the effectiveness of diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives on all three campuses
Eligibility
All full-time tenured faculty who have achieved the rank of Associate Professor or Professor and non-tenure track faculty who have taught at Pacific for more than five years are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to those with the rank of Professor in recognition that this status is often a prerequisite for consideration for advancement into administration.
Expectations and Compensation
Faculty Fellows are eligible for one course release, or comparable compensation, per semester during their appointment and will be required to attend at least one professional development conference selected in collaboration with the Provost or designee. The appointment will generally be a 20% commitment. Summer fellowship for faculty on 9 or 10 month appointments will also be considered. Fellows will develop a work plan for the term of the fellowship and complete a final report at the end of the fellowship.
