University of the Pacific's San Francisco Campus Hosts First Annual Campus Community Night Out

October 15, 2018

University of the Pacific's San Francisco campus held its first annual Campus Community Night Out on Tuesday, Oct. 9. Aimed at bringing the campus community together and welcome the school's neighbors, the event attracted more than 250 attendees. The Campus Community Night Out was sponsored by the school's Department of Public Safety and organized by Wil Sunga, public safety coordinator and John J. Feeney, public safety director.

Representatives from Yerba Buena Community Development; SF SAFE; 311; BART and San Francisco's Metropolitan Transit Agency, police, fire and parks and recreation departments as well as campus groups were on hand to provide resources and information to the campus community.

Supervisor Jane Kim also made an appearance. Kim, who represents District 6, in which the school is located, shared an anecdote about a constituent who had benefited from the dental care provided by the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry's clinics in the building.

"The Department of Public Safety looks forward to providing future opportunities for our Campus Community to come together in the spirit of building relationships and enhance the safety of the UOP San Francisco campus," said John J. Feeney.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all fifty states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August (Texas celebrates on the first Tuesday in October). Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and more.
